creating a chic at-home bar area

Cece Fourchy is back with another fabulous installment of her At Home blog column on decorating! Leave it to Cece to make at-home bars chic and glamorous. Todays post is teeming with ideas for prepping a bar area with all the necessities, and a few design ideas too, for everyday enjoyment and special occasions alike.

After weeks of flash flood warnings, tornado sirens, and gloomy days that seemingly never end, I think a little bit of warm weather is a welcome trend. While reading the weeks forecast 98 degrees all week I think its safe to say summer is here.

These scorching-hot days get my mind wandering toward sundresses, swimming pools, and a nice cold cocktail. Theres nothing better than a sweet little drink to help you cool off, and where better to enjoy such a concoction than the comfort of your own home, and more importantly, in air conditioning? I have always loved the idea of having an at-home bar of some kind, and I think this summer is the perfect time to turn my plan into action!

I gathered up a few stylish shots of at-home bars that I will definitely use as inspiration.

An old shot from Domino magazine showcases the perfect bar for entertaining: plenty of supplies and uber-chic.

With speckled wallpaper as a canvas, Eddie Ross couldnt really go wrong with this bar scene. Perfect for space-saving too!

I love the idea of using this chest as a bar: it is totally unexpected but still super sophisticated. I also love the little figurines! (from T magazine)

This thing is huge! It would certainly take up my entire living room but I think the look is pretty fabulous. (from Domino)

Rita Konig has the right idea: her baskets allow for more storage and more surface area. That table is pretty cute too.

This is such a great idea for making use of limited space in this Brooklyn apartment profiled by Refinery 29. The juicer is a great touch!

Jamie Mearess bar would make Margot Tennenbaum proud: I can definitely dig that wallpaper! (from High Gloss)
